Hands-On

Learning at FIU extends beyond books, classrooms, and lecture halls. FIU wants to make sure you have the opportunities and resources you need to reinforce what you are learning in the classroom—just like our:

  • Architecture students who built a house for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Solar Decathlon
  • Business students who benefit from the Capital Markets Lab, a 2,200 square-foot authentic trading environment, complete with 49 trading desk workstations outfitted with sophisticated financial software
  • Journalism students who are involved in the Hispanic Media Futures, a partnership between FIU and Telemundo Communications Group, Inc., that offers an internship in the Spanish-language broadcast media group
  • School of Environment, Arts and Society students who are helping restore the Florida Everglades and Highland Oaks, a freshwater wetland ecosystem that forms the Oleta River in Miami-¬Dade County
