Breadcrumbs

Students apply from all around the world to Florida International University. If you are not a U.S. citizen or you do not yet hold U.S. Permanent Resident status, you should apply as an international student.

If you are a U.S. citizen living overseas, or have dual citizenship and plan on entering the U.S. on your U.S. passport, you should apply using the Freshman or Transfer application for admission.

International students apply for admissions as a first year, transfer, or graduate student at FIU every semester. The Office of Admissions takes its time to closely review applications considering different characteristics of our future students.

Admission to FIU is selective. Minimum criteria for Early Fall start, fall and spring are quantitative, based on inversely correlated high school GPA and SAT/ACT scores scales. The sliding scales emphasize GPA over test scores, given the fact that students admitted to FIU with higher grade point averages from high school have the best opportunity to succeed. All first time in college students must meet the college readiness benchmark cut scores in Evidence Based Reading and Writing (Critical Reading) and Math on the SAT or Reading and Math on the ACT. FIU uses the following criteria to automatically admit students who meet the profile below and complete their application by the published deadline. This criteria is for any term in the 2018-2019 academic year.
